A total of 18 Archers made it to the line to shoot in Round 3 of the postal League as we attempt to claw back the 4 points difference Malvern have on us for 4th place. Chris Bell again set the standard by shooting a 589, 4 short of his club record set in Round 2. As it took Chris White shooting a perfect 600 to keep Chris off being top compound shooter in Round 2 we will see if the positions are reversed. Chris was disappointed with his score following his exploits in Las Vegas but it again gives us a good start for the league. Jon Nott shot a 581 using his recurve pushing Bill Bell down into 3rd from his second spot in Round 2. Dennis Michael set a new 50+ CR and by beating son Lewis's PB of 560 put himself back into top spot in the Michael household.
Veteran Dan Brown made a welcome return to the league and set a new 60+ and 70+ Longbow CR. Eloise Bowden JU/16 made her league debut and set a creditable first score getting her first gold.
Thanks to all those archers who competed. The Postal League is run by Alan Logan who is based in New Zealand. With the earthquake the league scores may be delayed.
Good luck to all our archers who are competing at the WMAS and Worcestershire County Championships in Evesham on Sunday 06/03/2011.
Congratulations to longbowers Henry Evans and Kathryn Lester who have both set new Longbow club records in the past week. Henry broke one of the longest club records in the Bray 1 which had been held by Steve Blount since 2006. Henry became the first Longbow archer to break 200. Well done to him.In preparation for Evesham Kathryn started shooting on a FITA 18 Triple face target and set a new club Ladies Longbow record.
With the shooting standards rising week by week 2011 should be an exciting year with hopefully more club and county records and maybe a few UK and World records from our elite archers.
If I don't see you this Wednesday I hope to see you at the awards presentation this Friday 4th March when we honour our winners and salute our clubs progress and members. See you on the shooting line.
